Commercial · New England

Scoped commercial IT.Written range first.

Seraphtek commercial work is scoped field IT for small-to-mid firms in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. One operator. Independent contractor — not your IT department unless a written retainer says so. You get a written total range before work starts. No monthly retainer required. The unit of work is the job, not a seat on a help desk.

Front door

$497 network and access audit

Written punch list. WAN → firewall / Cradlepoint → switch → VLANs → POS / servers / Wi-Fi. What is single-point-of-failure. What is mis-segmented. Recommended first job with a dollar range. What I will not touch.

Lead offer · quoted

$497

This is a quoted commercial job, not a residential Stripe package. Request it. After I confirm the $497 scope in writing, pay that amount or a deposit — minimum $25 — on the quoted checkout. Discovery that expands the audit is requoted before it continues. Not a monthly retainer.

    Written summary

What changed, what is still single-point, what I will not touch.

Four families

POS. Servers. Firewalls. The office.

Scoped field IT. Not a help-desk seat. Not a second brand.

POS systems and payment-network isolation

Toast / Clover / Square / Lightspeed-class cutover. Registers, receipt printers, cash drawers, payment terminals. Dedicated VLAN or SSID so POS is not on guest Wi-Fi. Multi-register shops: switch, cabling, DHCP reservations. After-hours cutover — quoted first — so the floor is live before open.

I am not the merchant of record. I do not perform PCI QSA audits.

Servers, files, and backup

Windows Server or small-office server. NAS (Synology / QNAP). Shares and permissions. Local backup plus one offsite copy, with a restore test. Line-of-business app server. One RDS box for the owner who works from home. Microsoft 365 / Entra join and offboarding when that is the job.

I do not run vSphere clusters or Exchange rebuilds.

Firewall, Cradlepoint, and network topology

Firewall install or rebuild: UniFi, SonicWall, FortiGate, Meraki, pfSense / OPNsense. Cradlepoint / Ericsson Cradlepoint IBR / E300-class: SIM, APN, primary LTE or failover. Dual-WAN: cable or fiber plus Cradlepoint, probed and documented. VLAN plan: staff / guest / POS / cameras / IoT. Site-to-site or client VPN. DHCP, DNS, reservations. Written one-page diagram after the job.

Keep the office alive

Wired plant, patch panel, PoE switch, closet cleanup. Business Wi-Fi, staff vs guest. Printers and scan-to-folder. Microsoft 365 tenant hygiene. Remote access that is not “leave one PC on.” On-site vendor coordination (ISP, POS, cameras). Hire / term checklist. Multi-site property field with a quoted hour pool when the writing says so.

Fit

Who this is for.

For

Owner-operator offices and shops — law, dental, CPA, clinics, retail, restaurants. Property managers with many doors. Regional MSPs that need field overflow, not a replacement MSP. Send the PO if you have one; the Service Agreement still sits underneath unless that packet expressly replaces a clause.

Not

Enterprise retainer theater. 24/7 SOC. PCI audit firm. A second brand. In-house IT. Guesswork checkout before a written range.

Published reference

Quote first. These rates as the floor.

Commercial work is paid only after a written range. On-site reference is $135/hour with a one-hour minimum, then 15-minute increments. Travel inside the zone confirmed at booking is included; outside that zone is quoted before I roll. After-hours and weekend work is quoted first. Prepaid blocks are a residential buffer unless the writing for this job applies them.

Payment is acceptance of the Terms of Service and Service Agreement. Do not use this checkout for unpublished guesswork.

Agreements

The writing, then the work.

Requesting work, booking a slot, or paying a quoted amount means you agree to the Terms of Service, Service Agreement, and Privacy Policy. A signed quote or PO controls if it conflicts — except payment, cancellation, remote-access authorization, authority, and liability, which still apply unless that writing expressly replaces them.

  • Range before work

No surprise hours. If discovery is outside the range, I stop and requote. Time already spent diagnosing at a billed rate is payable.

  • Authority

The person who books or pays must be able to bind the firm. I can ask for an owner or manager on the call, a PO, or other proof. An adult you designate must be present on site, or I need written permission to work unattended.

  • Hours and cancel

Monday–Friday, 9:00–17:00 Eastern, unless we agree otherwise. On-site 24-hour cancel. Remote 2-hour cancel. After-hours quoted first.

  • Regulated data

Do not put card numbers, medical records, student records, or Social Security numbers in the public form. Those jobs need a written addendum first.

  • Workmanship

Labor on a completed repair is covered 14 days against the same cause, parts excluded. Audits, punch lists, and tune-ups are not warranted beyond the session.

  • Remote access

A remote session is consent to connect for the stated job. I remove support tools when we close unless you ask to leave them.

FAQ

Straight answers.

How much does commercial IT support cost with Seraphtek?
Commercial work is quoted as a written total range before it starts. Published reference is $135 per hour on-site with a one-hour minimum, then 15-minute increments. The $497 network and access audit is the front door when you want a punch list first — request it, then pay the quoted checkout after that price is confirmed. Do not use residential package checkouts for a commercial job unless the written range says those SKUs apply.
Do you require a monthly retainer?
No. Scoped work. Written range first. I am an independent contractor, not your in-house IT department and not an MSP under a monthly retainer unless a separate writing says so.
Do prepaid hour blocks apply to commercial work?
No, not by default. The $550 / 5-hour and $1,050 / 10-hour blocks are a standing residential buffer. They apply to a commercial job only when the written range for that job says so. They are not a retainer, not transferable, and unused hours expire 12 months after purchase.
Do you work on POS systems?
Yes. Toast, Clover, Square, and Lightspeed-class cutover — registers, receipt printers, cash drawers, payment terminals, and payment-network isolation so POS is not on guest Wi-Fi. I am not the merchant of record and I do not perform PCI QSA audits. Payment-card, medical, or student data jobs need a written addendum before work starts.
Do you configure firewalls and Cradlepoint?
Yes. Firewall install or rebuild on UniFi, SonicWall, FortiGate, Meraki, and pfSense / OPNsense, plus Cradlepoint IBR / E300-class SIM, APN, primary LTE or failover, and dual-WAN.
Which states do you cover?
Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. Travel inside the zone confirmed at booking is included in the hourly rate. Travel outside that zone is quoted before I roll.
Who actually shows up on site?
I do. One operator. 1099 technicians only when the job needs more hands. The person who books or pays must have authority to bind the firm.
What are the hours and cancellation rules?
Published hours are Eastern Time, Monday–Friday, 9:00–17:00, unless we agree otherwise. After-hours and weekend work is quoted first. On-site: cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours ahead or the one-hour minimum may be charged. Remote: at least 2 hours, or the session may be charged. If I cancel, you are not charged for the unused slot.
